Free Valentine's Day Card Printable!

I am so bad with card buying! I always wait until the last minute to do anything. Thankfully there is always something online I can find just in the nick of time. Now, thankfully for you, I thought of all the people out there like me and made a free Valentine's day card. On the outside, there is a cute design I did. For the inside, it is blank so you can confess your love to someone or draw a sick picture like I always do! The best type of paper to print this on is 8.5 x 11 Cardstock paper. You can find card stock at your local Walmart or Staples. There is also a perfect line dividing the paper so you know where to fold! Show someone you care about how much they mean to you. Hope you enjoy!

5 Most Influential Poems for Girls

When I was younger I wasn't really aware of much. It wasn't until my parents divorced that I really became aware of the things around me. I felt different. I felt as if glasses came off and I could see the world differently. I didn't know how to put my feelings into words and because of this I always felt like I was unintelligent. I didn't pay attention in school because I thought I was headed nowhere. Years after school and after some bad experiences I came across poetry. I always thought poetry was that "lame thing I couldn't understand in my grade 10 English class". In reality, poetry put everything that was in my head into words. During this time I had to take ENC 1102. My professor was amazing. She was into poetry and classical English literature which ended up being the start of many after class talks which showed me a whole new side of reading altogether. I wish I discovered poetry at a younger age but as for anyone else feeling the same way I did here are some great poems every girl should read:

1. "Lady Lazarus" by Sylvia Plath

2. "For Women Who Are Difficult To Love" by Warsan Shire

3."Today" by Lang Leav

4. "Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou

5. "I'm Over The Moon" by Brenda Shaughnessy

I don’t like what the moon is supposed to do.
Confuse me, ovulate me,

spoon-feed me longing. A kind of ancient
date-rape drug. So I’ll howl at you, moon,

I’m angry. I’ll take back the night. Using me to
swoon at your questionable light,

you had me chasing you,
the world’s worst lover, over and over

hoping for a mirror, a whisper, insight.
But you disappear for nights on end

with all my erotic mysteries
and my entire unconscious mind.

How long do I try to get water from a stone?
It’s like having a bad boyfriend in a good band.

Better off alone. I’m going to write hard
and fast into you moon, face-fucking.

Something you wouldn’t understand.
You with no swampy sexual

promise but what we glue onto you.
That’s not real. You have no begging

cunt. No panties ripped off and the crotch
sucked. No lacerating spasms

sending electrical sparks through the toes.
Stars have those.

What do you have? You’re a tool, moon.
Now, noon. There’s a hero.

The obvious sun, no bulls hit, the enemy
of poets and lovers, sleepers and creatures.

But my lovers have never been able to read
my mind. I’ve had to learn to be direct.

It’s hard to learn that, hard to do.
The sun is worth ten of you.

You don’t hold a candle
to that complexity, that solid craze.

Like an animal carcass on the road at night,
picked at by crows,

haunting walkers and drivers. Your face
regularly sliced up by the moving

frames of car windows. Your light is drawn,
quartered, your dreams are stolen.

You change shape and turn away,
letting night solve all night’s problems alone.

Customizable Blog Planner Kit!

So if you don't know I have been studying graphic design since high school and continue to do it as my college major. I love creating things so much that I wanted to start sharing what I create. As I start to get more serious about my blog I realized that there were no blog planners that had EVERYTHING I wanted. My friend Ashleigh, or as most know her, Sewrella, told me how she was having the same problem. She didn't have a blog planner that met her expectations. So for fun, I told her I wanted to create a blog planner just for her. We collaborated on things she needed for inside a  planner such as social media links, places for notes and so on. As an added bonus I added her logo! I mean who doesn't love things that are marked just for them. At the end, I really loved the idea of making customizable blog planners!

So now I decided to share it with you! I am now offering Customizable Blog Planner Kits in my Etsy shop! There are a couple of things which will be added:

Customizations can include layout, decal (logo, blog name, actual name) and colours.

Each kit comes with 5 pages which you can pick out:

If a specific, desired page is not listed you can also suggest a page you would like to have.

New Youtube video: How to create a clipping mask

So I have been blogging for a couple of years and thankfully I have a certificate for graphic design so designing my own work is easy. For some people, making a spiffy addition to their photos is quite hard. I decided to start doing little videos to help some of the beginner designers to help their photos and design work look a little better.

Mini Montreal Vlog

So recently my boyfriend Joseph and I went on a trip to Montreal. For the people who don't know me I am a Canadian and American citizen and my second home is Montreal. All of my mothers side of the family including her live there so I try to visit as much as I can. Hopefully, in the next couple of years I will moving up there and just visiting florida.

While I was there I decided to film a little of my favourite city so I could show everyone who hasn't been how amazing it is. I did lose a lot of footage so its only a short video but hopefully next time i'll be able to show you more of my travels!

4 Things I Wish I'd Known Before I Started Hand Embroidery

A couple months ago as you may know I started Hand Embroidery. I didn't have really anyone around me who dabbled in it so I decided to research what I needed online and figure out everything as I went along. Other than the materials aspect there are some things I really whish I  knew before I started.

1. Nothing Will Be Perfect

When I first start something and it doesn't end up how I thought it would I always give up because I think that I can't do it. Which doesn't make sense since i'm doing something for the first time. I had to realize that the first couple things I would stitch wouldn't be perfect!

2. Thickness Of Needle To Thread

I didn't realize in the beginning why some of my threads were harder to pull through then others. It's because the size of the needle relates to the size of the thread you are using. Honestly it is insane to me how I didn't realize that but there ya go!

3.  Patterns

Finding patterns are great on etsy but if you can create your own its awesome to see how a simple pattern you created looks on your hoop art.

4. Don't Take It Too Seriously!

Like I said in the beginning nothing will be perfect. I think some imperfections make it quite interesting. I would rather see something with an human imperfection instead of a perfect machine made thing. Enjoy what you are making it's so much fun!

Top 4 Knitting Tutorials for Beginners

For a few weeks I've been OBSESSED with handmade things and the people who make them . I've also wanted to make a change this year to do more things with my hands so I have found my new handmade adventure! Knitting! It was hard to find a lot of places where to start and what to do so here is a beginner giving you a beginners guide on the tutorials I used to start learning how to knit!

For casting on:

Even though it seems like a complicated tutorial on how to knit a scarf, BUT this was the easiest cast on tutorial that I found. For a beginner it is perfect!

For the Knit Stitch:

This for me was the best tutorial for the knit stitch. I am someone when first learning something I need a tutorial to go quite slow so I found that GoodKnitKisses was the best for that!

For the Purl Stitch:

GoodKnitKisses is also my fave for the Purl Stitch!

For Casting off:

I'm still having a little trouble casting off but this tutorial was the best I could find which has helped a lot!

Free Embroidery Pattern!

I can't believe that half a month has flown by and we are already nearing february. As I now live in a new town with my boyfriend while also trying to go to school, Valentine's day creeping up is not a good thing. Thankfully we both have a mutual understanding of not getting each other gifts right now and instead trying to make things for each other. This year i decided to make one of my gifts a little early so that maybe you guys would want to make it too!

One of my handmade gifts is this hand embroidered hoop art. The line is quite basic but we have an inside joke about it as it is in one of our favourite shows "The Office". The best thing about hoop art is that it can go anywhere! So while I'm trying to figure out our walls I put it up on our book shelf and actually might keep it there.

So for anyone else who is stuck this valentines day here is a basic free pattern to make for your significant other. Even though it's pretty generic, you can make it your own like I did and it will be totally special for that someone special!

Giveaway & Changes!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a magical holiday season and hopefully a good start to the new year! 2 years ago I posted a New Beginning where I basically stated that I would no longer set resolutions but more of changes that I would want to make in that following year. Even though it sounds quite similar, to me, a new year resolution has always been something I have failed at. Changes for me are less contract-y and more of a insignificant goal. If I achieve it then its great thing I have accomplished but if not I no longer feel so guilty about it. So what are some changes you want to make?
A change I want to make is to be less on my phone and doing more things with my hands. I have always felt as our hands are our greatest tools so I want to take up more hand requiring crafts. My first craft I started was hand embroidery. Let me just tell you, I have been LOVING it. I have gotten some of my friends into it so now I want to get you into it too! Go onto my instagram  @Claudiamchampagne and check out how you can win your own Hand Embroidery Kit!
